Hi, I’m Cathy!
I’m a trauma-informed, certified breathwork facilitator, transformation coach and mindfulness guide with 25 years experience in the wellbeing arena. I work with women who feel stuck, stressed and overwhelmed, who’ve been shaken by life-changing events, or who may be navigating the rollercoaster of menopause, I can help you to rediscover your inner calm, mental clarity and self-belief, and feel empowered to confidently make the changes you need and want to make.
What is Breathwork?
We have become a society of stressed people, stuck in our busy thinking minds, who aren’t breathing properly. Breathwork is a therapeutic practice that can reveal mental and emotional blocks to your wellbeing and to achieving your goals and aspirations. It teaches you conscious control of your breathing so you can manage stressful or emotionally difficult situations with more ease and greater resilience. It can help you gain more inner calm, mental clarity and better relaxation, as well as improve performance, increase self-awareness, and enhance physical, emotional, and mental health.
It incorporates various techniques and traditions, from ancient practices like yoga’s pranayama and Taoist methods to modern approaches such as Rebirthing, Holotropic Breathwork, and the Wim Hof Method.
While these practices have ancient roots, modern science is now proving that breathwork can enhance general well-being and happiness while alleviating symptoms associated with menopause, stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, PTSD, ADHD, inflammation, low immunity, and indigestion… and much more!
How does it work?
Your breath is powerful. It’s considered to be the bridge between body, mind and spirit – it’s what’s keeping you alive, after all! But when we don’t want to feel __________ (stress, anxiety, anger, sadness, despair, grief, frustration, disappointment, shame, fear… fill in the blank) we unconsciously hold or contract our breath to push the feelings away.
This unconscious strategy works to give us relief in the moment, but if we keep difficult emotions suppressed, it can have a negative impact on our mental, emotional and physical health and wellbeing… and it also stops the flow of good stuff into your life, too.
Breathwork gives you simple tools to regulate your nervous system and calm the mind, and when working with a breathwork facilitator, you will be supported to safely feel all the uncomfortable feelings from a more resourced, empowered and aware position. When you allow yourself to feel everything unconditionally, it allows the body to release suppressed emotions, you begin to see situations and limiting beliefs from new perspectives and gain clarity on patterns that may have been holding you back.
This process not only fosters emotional healing but also promotes personal growth, as it cultivates a deeper connection with yourself. As you consistently practice breathwork, you’ll notice a heightened sense of self-awareness, improved emotional resilience, and a greater ability to navigate life’s challenges with grace and ease. Ultimately, breathwork empowers you to live more fully in the present moment, free from the constraints of past traumas and limiting beliefs, and lets the good stuff to flow again, too.
What will I experience?
The breathing technique I’ll teach you not only reveals how flowing or restricted your breath is, but it gently brings emotional debris to the surface to be worked through, thereby integrating the emotional charge from past challenging events unconsciously held in your body and nervous system, which then fuels you to move forward in an aligned and authentic way.
A full breathwork session usually lasts for 1½ to 2 hours, so this 45-minute taster is enough to get a sense of how your breath can support you, which you might find surprising, and it may bring emotions to the surface and new insights, but it won’t allow you to go too deep.
Every breathwork session is different because what we work with depends on what you’re dealing with in your life situation, what your intentions are, what obstacles might be in the way of how you want to be and how safe you feel in the session.
During a session, you might experience a profound sense of inner peace, emotional release, and a deep connection to your body and inner self. If emotions are close to the surface, then it’s important to allow them to be felt and expressed. So be assured that this will be a confidential safe space and anything that does surface is welcome, valid and part of your process.
Instructions and preparation
Booking your session
When book your Breathwork Breakthrough taster, you will be taken to my online calendar to find a convenient time for your session.
Please answer the questions in the intake form to secure your booking.
It is my intention for your breathwork experience to be as powerful and effective as possible in the time we have available. A lot can shift in a short time, but for you to get the most from the session you need to be prepared and engaged with the process. Giving as much information about your situation upfront will help us hit the ground running.
And the clearer you are, the more time you’ll have to breathe, which is the important bit!
Online meeting place
- The session will take place on Zoom. Here’s the link to access.
What to wear
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to breathe freely.
Space set-up and camera
- Please make sure you have a quiet and comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed.
- You can either be lying down or sitting as long as you can be warm, comfortable and relax during the breath session.
- Make sure you’re in a position where you can set up your camera so that I can see you breathe – ie, from the head to your belly, and that you are well lit – wearing a dark top against a dark background, for example, makes it hard to see your breathing clearly.
- Have some water on hand, and possibly a notebook or journal in case you want to make a note of anything that comes up.
Safety considerations and waiver
I am a trauma-informed and fully insured and certified breathwork facilitator, and although it would be extremely rare for adverse side effects to arise from this gentle style of breathwork in this short practice, please note I cannot be held responsible for any mental, physical or emotional challenges that may arise due to taking part in breathwork. By attending this session, you agree that you are suitably resourced (mentally, physically and emotionally) to take part.

Will I be pressured to do more sessions?
My intention for these 45-minute free sessions is to give you an insight into how powerful your breath is for restoring harmony to body, mind and emotions and to share tools with you that will support you in the moments when you need them.
If I feel that you could benefit from a programme of sessions to deal with the root cause of any issue you’re dealing with or unresolved trauma, then I’ll let you know how I can do that, but there is no obligation to do any further sessions together.
