When we’re in our 40s and 50s, it’s a time in our lives when women have a lot on our plates.

It’s usually up to us to balance the multiple roles of caregivers, professionals, and homemakers, and we tend to be the ones managing the emotional wellbeing of ourselves and others.

With all that, AND the quickening pace of life, rapid change, global problems and technology that demands us to keep up, it’s no wonder so many of us are struggling, mentally fatigued and feeling stressed, anxious, burnt out or stuck.

And our bodies are simply not designed to carry all this stress.

Because women’s bodies undergo significant hormonal changes throughout our lives, including menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and menopause, these fluctuations can make women even more sensitive and prone to chronic stress, which can lead to a heightened risk of cardiovascular disease, weight gain, immune system suppression and autoimmune diseases. It can exacerbate anxiety and depression and increases the risk of osteoporosis, and conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). 

And when your estrogen levels start to fall during menopause, it stresses your body further, which can exacerbate symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances.

Plus, at this time, as part of the natural aging process, your nervous system is naturally a little weaker and more prone to overreacting than before, so you can get stuck in a constant state of fight-or-flight, making you jumpy and reactive even to minor stressors. 

So it’s ESSENTIAL that we actively manage stress and put our self-care first for our overall well-being and for our journey through menopause and beyond.

However, conscious breathwork practices assist the body and nervous system to let go of layers of emotional debris, stress and resistance that it’s been holding onto, releasing energetic and emotional blocks and bringing about relaxation, peace of mind, healing and transformation.

A 121 breathwork session, where you are safely held in a non-judgemental space and free to express yourself authentically, can be a gentle, yet profound experience. Next steps

To begin with I offer an initial free Zoom conversation to talk about what you hope to achieve with breathwork and to see if it’s right for you. And then, if it feels like a good fit and we choose to work together, I’ll send you a pre-session questionnaire to complete, and then we’re good to go.

An initial session is two hours (subsequent sessions 90 minutes). This includes being able to share anything that you need to speak about ahead of the ‘breathe’, support to set a clear intention before we start, time to integrate anything that came up during the breathe, and coaching to help you take the next steps to how you want to be in your life.
